Calling all brain power ~ Help

C, S, & G mom here... we need computer savvy friends to help us figure out our problem if possible. I had to come to the library to do this because:

1. we cannot get Google, Gmail or blogger to open and sometimes not even netzero
2. we cannot see most of the blogs not even ours even when just surfing the net
3. we changed from TimeWarner to AT&T/SBCGlobal and yes it is faster but we get errors on almost all pages we attemp to view or cannot find server or done and there is no page
4. we have lowered our Internet properties as low as we can go and still try to stay safe
5. before we left TimeWarner we had to lower the firewall to open up some of the blogs and then turn it back on but that firewall came with TW so we don't have that option now
6. We ran a free Norton Anti-virus during all the frustrating time which, resulted in files that read Trojan and a couple of small alert virus' so we renewed our Norton Anti-virus account to the most updated for our software
7. We finally got connected to AT&T/SBCGlobal network and for a couple of days everything seemed fine but then suddenly without any provocation on our part, we have been having boot-up problems where the first boot locks up or it takes over 10-minutes to get it rebooted and when we are on the net we get locked out of most everything even Disney and BeBratz which, doesn't make sense.
8. our system check mentions about a fat32 inconsistency which, was listed on the small alert virus that makes us think it may still be contributing to our issues
9. The screen flashes when booting up made us think someone was piggy backing on our system but we don't know how to really know.
10. AT&T tech says they cannot help because it shows we got our Internet connection
11. oh and when we sign in to Google or blogger it acts like everything is fine and then it sends us in loops - 'you are about to .. secure site' we say OK then 'others may see...' then we say OK, then the same messages loop and loop and loop and the site never completely loads.

Does anyone have any helpful advice? We cannot take the computer in for another month for service due to finances and we sure are missing all of you.
Thank you in advance for any advice.
Our hotmail account seems to work fine mehinton_tx@hotmail.com

Trojan viruses are bad! You gotta be careful that no one is stealing your account info and identity stuff! My human and I wish that we could help you! But we don't know much either! My human usually takes her computer to her dad to fix!

Hope things get fixed soon! I miss you!

Oh my, sounds like someone from somewhere is playing around with your compooter. Yes, becareful of Trojan Virus. Our compooter got attacked by it before & the compooter started blinking & then shutting down all the time. I'm not sure if I can help you much with this but how we got our compooter fixed was when my hoomans brought the whole CPU & monitor to the shop to be thoroughly cleaned. Many things & datas were lost but the Trojan Virus was gone for good. Also, download 'Spybot Search & Destroy' and also 'CCleaner'. Norton Anti-Virus doesn't help much. You need extra, extra cleaning each time you finish using the compooter. Both Spybot & CCleaner are free & they do a GREAT job in removing every single virus/problems in your compooter. You see, each time you use the compooter, new virus will come in & Trojan will come back becoz it's everywhere! But always make sure, if there's anytime the compooter asks you like "you are about...& bla bla bla", NEVER click OK!!! Becoz you are allowing the person to enter your compooter. Just click 'X' to all of them.

Hope this helps. Take care!

I would first of all back up all files then take the computer to be (rebuilt). This involves taking everything off the hard drive including the operating system e.g XP or Vista then re installing what you want. That way you have a clean slate. You just have to be very careful you don't re-install the virus that caused the problem in the first place.
Most computer places should be able to do this for you.
Good luck.

Hey you guys should try to download mozilla firefox 3.0. It really helps block your computer from really bad threats and viruses. Plus you should download avg free- for spyware sweeping and so forth.

Both are free and really help out the computer. Mozilla has been great! sister's used it for years!

Sorry to hear this. Unfortunately we are of no help either. LS knows very little on pc. Like suggested earlier, perhaps you can reformat the whole pc and reinstall again if it's due to virus.

Sounds like you gots a bad virus.....the best virus protection is Trend Micro....my mum uses it at work and it is wonderful. I would buy it and then re-run your scans....

G'day

Sounds to me like you have picked up a trojan somewhere. Initially try Amber-Mae's suggestions - those programs usually help, But if that doesn't work - your best option is to fully Noah's recommendation. Seriously you can muck around for hours and hours and hours attempting to fix these problems and in the end trashing and rebuild would be quicker. If I lived next door to you I could be of more help.

Cheers

Sorry you're having so many problems with the computer. We had a virus once too and the computer just shut down. Now we have all kinds of firewalls and security. We don't know how to fix your computer but we sent ours out to a technician to fix. I don't know if you should be trying to fix it yourself. Good luck. Hope we hear from you and see you on your blog very soon. We really miss you.

Wow!! You sure have problems. I wish that i could help you with them, but my mom uses Macs and they don't have any issues at all. They just keep working and working with no problems or viruses.

Do you have that dreaded dial-up or DSL? If it is dial-up, maybe that's your problem.

Sorry I wasn't more helpful.

Good luck getting this thing solved.

Love and Koobuss Kisses,
Koobie

If you ahve a trojan attack on your computer, it is probably what is happening. We sure cannot help you, as this is way over our heads. But, we suggest that when you do get your computer back up and running, you also use Zone Alarm in conjunction with Norton. It will stop attacks. They offer a free version, which is what we used.

We will keep our paws crossed for you.

Sorry, but my mommy doesn't know what might be wrong with your computer. Bummer. Sounds like some sort of virus. This is a job for the Geek Squad!! Do you have them in your area? They will even come to your home.

Oh no! Computers are so handy, but can be so frustrating too! Sounds like there might have been a problem with your service provider, which means you just have to wait it out :(

Max's birthday is coming up and we are planning a Vegas themed pawty??? Can you think of any good treats or fun things to do at a Vegas pawty?

Hi Crikit, Sparky, and Ginger!
All we can say is that we also have AT&T and we've had lots of problems with the computer and the phone...
and we have a friend who has the same problem as us with the phone.
As with the computer, sometimes our internet connection will say it's connected but the internet won't work... it's really weird. And at the moment, only the internet on our apple computer is working and on our pc it won't work, but it still says that it's connected... our humans really want to switch networks...
Hope you get your problems fixed!
Wags and licks,
Maya and Kena

That sounds awful! I don't know anything about computers. Mom says you might have to get one of those computer geek guys to come over to your house to look at it. Hope you get it fixed! It is hard for a dog to blog when the computer won't cooperate!

Man, all those things are really fustrating. Our mom is technically challanged, so when we have problems, we have to call the computer nerd herd. (or whatever their business is called this week) They have been able to help with the problems we've had in the past.
Sorry we don't have any words of wisdom...but we miss you
